BOYS SOCCER

Jackson 1, Poplar Bluff 0

JACKSON -- Jackson picked up a big victory that has thrown the Class 4A, District 1 Tournament seedings up in the air.

Poplar Bluff could have all but wrapped up the No. 1 seed for the district with a win, but now the Indians could very well nab the top spot if they can beat Cape Central later this month.

Raju Dirnberger scored a second-half goal, with an assist from Pat Kohm, as the Indians improved to 8-6-2. Goalkeeper Bryan Sander earned the shutout.

"It was a big win for us, an important win," said Jackson coach Bonnie Knowlan. "I thought we played real well. I was real proud of them."

Jackson's JV tied Poplar Bluff 1-1 on a goal by Matt Buttrey.
