After losing the first set, the Cape Central High School volleyball team rebounded and rolled past visiting Chaffee Tuesday night to pick up its initial victory under first-year coach Sheila Midget. The scores were 12-15, 15-1, 15-0.
"We had a problem receiving early," said Midget, whose squad is now 1-12-1 on the season. "But we got over that and strong serving is basically what turned it around."
Emily McElreath led Central with 11 service points, followed by Sarah Wernsman with 10 and Amber Seabaugh with nine.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 15-5-1 as they rebounded from a loss at Park Hills the previous night.
Courtney Vickery had seven kills and eight digs to lead Notre Dame. Jennifer VanGennip added five kills while Erin Pfau had nine digs and three kills.
Also for the Lady Bulldogs, Ali Tyson dished out 25 assists, Meredith LeGrand had nine digs and Deana McCormick contributed three kills and two blocks.
Notre Dame's JV romped 15-1, 15-0 and the freshmen prevailed 15-8, 15-6.

WOODLAND 11-15-9
MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Scott City moved to 9-8-1 by knocking off Woodland in three sets.
Sidney Baer paced a balanced Lady Ram attack with five kills. Kyla Smith had three kills while Mindy Miller and Kelly Cook added two each.
Woodland (6-10) was led in kills by Kelly Reed with six and Emily Davis with five. Jeni Jackson had 11 digs while Sarah Devenport recorded six assists.
Scott City won the JV match 15-8, 15-3.

BELL CITY 15-5-12
PATTON, Mo. -- The Lady Panthers rebounded from a first-set loss to win a tough match from the Lady Cubs.
Meadow Heights (17-3) got a huge performance from Holly Boyd as she had 24 kills, 10 digs and five stuff-blocks. Hanna James added nine kills, six digs, two stuff-blocks and two service aces. Jami Fulton recorded 27 assists.
Bell City (11-5-1) was led by Katie Spears as she had 14 kills, 14 digs and 12 service points. Katie Niemczyk had nine kills,13 digs and 13 service points. Whitney Abner dished out 20 assists while Erin Dissler added five kills and five blocks.
Bell City won the JV match 15-10, 15-9.
PERRYVILLE 15-15
WINDSOR 12-10
IMPERIAL, Mo. -- Perryville inched closer to the .500 mark by sweeping Windsor.
The Lady Pirates (7-8-1) got nine kills, nine blocks and 10 digs from Katie Kutz. Rachel Wunderlich had five kills and 11 digs while Lisa Pecaut recorded five kills and 25 assists.
Also for Perryville, Joclyn Rhyne had 10 digs and eight service points while Emily Amberger contributed four kills and seven service points.
Perryville's freshmen remained undefeated at 7-0 with a 15-12, 15-3 win. The Lady Pirates JV lost 15-5, 15-11.

ST. VINCENT 15-6-13
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- St. Vincent won the opener but dropped the final two sets.
Chelsey Brown led the Squaws (3-10-1) with seven kills and 19 digs while Beth Hennemann had six kills and 14 digs.
St. Vincent swept the JV contest.

OAK RIDGE 1-6
OAK RIDGE, Mo. -- Leopold (12-2-1) had little trouble rolling past Oak Ridge (2-11).
Kyla Horrell paced the Lady Wildcats with five kills. Holly Jansen had three and Melissa Thiele added two.
Leopold won the JV match 15-6, 15-4.
BOYS SOCCER
CAPE CENTRAL 2, CARBONDALE (ILL.) 0
Central got two second-half goals to dispose of Carbondale for the second time this season.
Both of Carbondale's loss have come to Cape Central, which is 12-3-1. The Terriers fell to 10-2-1.
Seven minutes into the second half, Cody Hill deposited a pass from Calen Wills. Ten minutes later, Whit Lynn continued his hot play and scored on an assist from Heath Orr.
Lynn has scored four goals in Central's last four games.
"He's a defensive player, too," Central coach Tom Doyle said.
Aaron Meystedt posted the shutout in goal.
JACKSON 4, SIKESTON 1
SIKESTON, Mo. -- Jackson improved to 7-5 with an impressive win over Sikeston.
The Indians got goals from Matt Gordon, Patrick Kohm, Stuart Knowlan and Brett LaForest. Gordon, Kohm and Trent Forester recorded assists.
Jackson's JV won 1-0 on a goal by Tyler Beussink.
SOFTBALL
NOTRE DAME 10, TWIN RIVERS 0
The Lady Bulldogs continued to roll as they improved to 18-2 with a six-inning, run-rule victory.
Lindsay Reinagel pitched a three-hitter, with six strikeouts and no walks.
Notre Dame banged out 13 hits, led by Mika Williamson with three. Tracie Kluesner, Laura Weissmueller and Sarah Gosche all added two hits.
JACKSON 3, PERRYVILLE 1
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Heather Tuschoff fired a four-hitter to lead Jackson. Tuschoff struck out three and walked one.
The Lady Indians (10-12) had eight hits, led by Jeanna Bolen and Natalie Profilet with two each.
Amanda Roth suffered the loss for Perryville (12-13).
KELLY 3, POPLAR BLUFF 1
BENTON, Mo. -- Natalie Lewer hurled a six-hitter as Kelly bounced back from Monday's loss to Notre Dame. Lewer fanned seven and walked none.
The Lady Hawks (13-4) had nine hits, with Bridgett Riley and Allison Johnson both going 3-for-3. Riley doubled, tripled and drove in two runs.

FARMINGTON INVITATIONAL
FARMINGTON, Mo. -- Jackson's girls were second and the boys placed fifth in the nine-team Farmington Invitational.
The Lady Indians had 10 runners earn medals by placing in the top 30 while the Indians had five medalists.
Jackson's junior varsity boys won their race.
Results of the meet are in Scoreboard on Page 2B.
