The Central softball team began its season in resounding fashion Monday by routing visiting Perryville 8-0.
Amanda Nichols fired a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts and one walk.
"She was on," Central coach Amy Blattel said.
The Tigers pounded out 10 hits, led by Mia Russell with three. She also drove in two runs.
Cara Parkinson had two hits and two RBIs for the Tigers, while Kayla Bredekant added two hits, including a double for Central's only extra-base hit.

Scott City 2, Kennett 1
Scott City opened its first fall softball season with a victory as the Rams held off host Kennett.
Emily Essner pitched a complete game for the Rams, allowing six hits. She struck out six.
The Rams had seven hits, led by Kaitlyn Twidwell and Chelsi Bradley with two each. Twidwell had Scott City's lone extra-base hit, a double.
