Matt Hester scored 3 minutes into the second overtime to lift the Central boys soccer team over district rival Poplar Bluff 2-1 on Thursday night.
Hester, a senior, was assisted by sophomore Lucian Johnson, who also assisted on the first goal, which was scored by sophomore Zach Zaruba in the 50th minute.
Central reached .500 at 4-4-1 with its third straight victory.
"I knew Poplar Bluff was improved," Central coach Tom Doyle said. "They're doing some good things and we're still growing a little bit."
The Tigers surrendered a goal to Poplar Bluff in the 74th minute to send the game overtime.
Central hosts Jackson on Tuesday.
Andrew Etzold, Garrett Fritsche and Mark Buerck scored to give Saxony Lutheran a road win.
The Crusaders improved to 3-1. They had finished second in the Cavalier Soccer Classic in Joplin, Mo., last weekend.
St. Vincent improved to 16-1 with a home sweep.
Kelsey Cissell had nine points, five kills and seven assists for St. Vincent. Brooke Brown and Kayilyn Petzoldt added five kills apiece, Brooke Hayden had three aces and four kills and Lacey Siegmund had nine assists.

Woodland edged Jackson for the second time in a week, repeating its victory at the B.A. Sports Volleyball Classic.
Chelsie Morris led the Cardinals (12-2-1) with eight kills. Jessica Santi had seven kills and Lauren Johnson had four kills. Rheanna Greer added seven points.
For Jackson (5-8-1), Katelyn James had 10 kills and four blocks, Chelsea Olson had 22 assists and DeDe Whitlow had 19 digs.

Perryville swept a road match.
Elizabeth Martin had five kills and nine assists for the Pirates (7-6-3). Jocelyn Moll led Perryville with seven kills, Brittany Castleberry had five kills and Ava Johnson had four kills.

Scott City freshman Brooke Simpson led the Rams with seven kills and three blocks in a road win.
Livia Giovanni had eight assists for the Rams (8-2-1), Kristin Yetman had seven assists, Jenni Heisserer had five aces and Whitney Tapley added three blocks.

Laura Meyer had five kills and Kia Thomas had three kills and two blocks to lead Oak Ridge in a home victory.
The Blue Jays improved to 7-5.
Nicole Petzoldt had five kills and four digs for the Crusaders in a home win.
Tiffany Haertling led Saxony with 11 points, and added four kills and four aces. Kara Versemann added four kills for Saxony (4-6), and Taylor Krauss had four digs.

Brandy Mayberry led the Panthers with nine kills in a home sweep.
Erica Wilfong and Jenna Hahs added four kills apiece for Meadow Heights (6-6-1). Kyla Mouser had three kills.

Oran fell to 2-9 with a home loss. Cassie Graviett had 10 digs and seven kills for the Eagles, while Kayla Graviett had 15 digs and Mandi Wood had nine assists.

Kristain Burger hit a solo home run and Miranda Schlosser limited Jackson to four hits in a home win.
Schlosser struck out five and walked three to improve to 8-1. Lauren Bond had two hits for the Bulldogs (16-1).

Perryville scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to complete a comeback from a 5-0 deficit.
Windsor scored five runs in the top of the fourth to go ahead 5-0, but the Pirates (4-8) bounced back with three in the bottom of the inning.
Emily Hanquist led Perryville with three hits, and Alyssa Bauwens added two hits. Lindsey Schumer picked up the win.
