The Central boys soccer team picked up its 10th straight victory by edging Springfield Glendale 1-0 in a battle of state-ranked teams Friday evening in Springfield, Mo.

Jordan Zaruba scored the lone goal for the Tigers in the 26th minute with an assist by Sam Bornstein.

Cody Gaither started the play by winning the ball at midfield, Central coach Tom Doyle said. Gaither dribbled right and sent a pass on the right wing to Bornstein, who dribbled through a few players to the goal and dropped a pass back to Zaruba.

"We played a lot of defense and hung on," Doyle said. "It was a whale of a game."

Jordan Young recorded the shutout for Central (10-1), which was ranked No. 7 this week in the Missouri Soccer Coaches Association poll for Class 3. Glendale, which was ranked No. 12 in the Class 3 poll, fell to 6-1.

Central continues its trip in Springfield today with an 11 a.m. game against Parkview.
