The Central golf team advanced all three of its Class 4 Sectional 1 qualifiers to next week's state tournament.

Junior Travis Simmons led the trio with a 5-over 75 on Monday at Crown Pointe Golf Club in Farmington, Mo. Sophomore Luke Kinder was a stroke behind at 76, while freshman Kobe Franklin finished on the cut line at 77.

"Those were good scores considering the playing conditions," Central coach Dick Wadlington said about his team. "I'm really proud of our guys."

Heavy weekend rain made for challenging conditions. Casual water forced a par-5 to be converted to a par-3, and players were allowed to play their ball up in the fairways.

The top two teams and top 12 individuals not on those teams advanced to the state meet.

Jackson did not advance any of its four sectional qualifiers. Senior Zach Crader paced the Indians with an 80, and was followed by sophomore Eli Pike (81), junior Adam Way (82) and senior Garrett Griffin (88).

The Class 4 tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Mo.

Class 1 Sectional 1

The St. Vincent golf team fell short of qualifying for the Class 1 state tournament team competition, but the Indians advanced two players to compete individually.

Junior Levi Gotto fired a 10-over 82, while senior Kelly Welker shot 89 for the Indians, who finished fourth (357) in the team competition at Ste. Genevieve Country Club. Thayer (331) and runner-up Barat Academy (331) tied for the top team score, but Thayer won the sectional title based on fifth-player scores.

Zac Heberlie (92) and Charles Miget (96) rounded out St. Vincent's team score.

Saxony Lutheran senior Collin Sprandel qualified for the state meet with an 83.

Class 2 Sectional 1

Kelly, which qualified four golfers for the sectional meet at Bear Creek Golf Course in Saint Peters, Mo., did not advance to the state level.

The Hawks finished with a 437 total and were eighth in the eight-team field. Lutheran High School (316) and Whitfield (349) claimed the two team spots for the Class 2 state tournament.
