ST. LOUIS, Mo.--Central scored four goals in a 10-minute span in the second half and went on to a 7-1 boys' soccer victory over Fulton on Saturday at the Anheuser-Busch Conference and Sports Centre.
The Tigers got two goals apiece from Aaron Bornstein, Heath Orr and Bryan Ross. Whit Lynn scored the other goal for Central (6-4). Calen Wills, Bornstein and Jordan Duncan recorded assists.
Central's JV won 5-0.
VOLLEYBALL
Perryville Tournament
PERRYVILLE, Mo.--Ste. Genevieve needed three sets to defeat Leopold 15-12, 4-15, 15-13 in the championship of the eight-team tournament.
Leopold advanced to the championship by finishing 6-0 in Pool A play and defeating Dexter in straight sets in the semifinals. Ste. Genevieve finished 6-0 in Pool B play and defeated Fredericktown in the other semifinal.
Dexter won the third-place match 15-10, 15-5 over Fredericktown. Perryville and Central both were winless in pool play. St. Vincent and Meadow Heights finished 2-4 in pool play.
Eagle Ridge 15-15, Unity 1-2
Eagle Ridge Christian improved to 5-1 with a home win over Unity of Herron, Ill.
Rachel Carbaugh had 10 points, including six aces to lead the way. Ashley Hughes had eight points and Cara Ervin had six kills.
Eagle Ridge's JV won 15-2, 15-4.
New Salem 15-15, Cross Point 1-4
UNION, Mo. -- Sarah Green and Kaylan Turner each had 10 service points, including three aces, for New Salem (3-2).
Mary Poole added four aces and Holly Jordan had three kills and three aces.
Woodland JV Tournament
MARBLE HILL, Mo.--Jackson captured the Woodland JV Tournament championship against Leopold in three sets.
Jackson lost the first game 15-6, but came back and took the next two games 16-14, 15-6.
Sikeston took fifth place with a 15-1, 15-7 win over Woodland. Scott City finished third with a 15-5, 15-4 win over Oran.
GIRLS' TENNIS
Tigers split a pair
Central took on a pair of Parkways in tournament play at Central on Saturday, splitting against Parkway West and Parkway Central.
The Lady Tigers defeated Parkway West 8-7, but were defeated by Parkway Central 11-4. Central is 6-0 in duals and 1-1 in tournaments.
FRESHMAN FOOTBALL
Central 48, Perryville 10
Kingsley Ehie rushed for four touchdowns to lead Cape past Perryville.
Phillip Brotherton and Anthony Hempstead also had rushing touchdowns. Ty Craft threw a touchdown pass to Scott Dunaway.
