Central opens with 10th-place finish

The Central girls swimming team opened the season with a 10th-place finish among 12 teams in the Marquette Relays in St. Louis County on Saturday.

The Tigers had an eighth-place finish by the 200-yard medley relay team of Tara Pickens, Lindsey Reimann, Betsy Schroeder and Lindsey Smith in addition to four ninth-place showings.

Central faces Notre Dame at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Central Municipal Pool.

200 medley relay -- eighth (Tara Pickens, backstroke; Lindsey Reimann, breaststroke; Betsy Schroeder, butterfly; Lindsey Smith, freestyle), 2:33.66.

300 fly relay -- ninth (Amy Pickering, Katie Bowles, Emily Spriggs).

900 progressive relay (200-200-500) -- ninth (Smith, Elizabeth Knight, Brianna LeGrand).

400 medley relay -- ninth (Joanna Taleno, Jessi Yarbro, Pickering, Bowles).

400 freestyle relay -- ninth (Yarbro, Amanda Dewrock, Smith, Knight).
