Reigning district champion Central opened its girls tennis season with a 9-0 victory Tuesday against visiting Farmington.

Sarah Ford, Lindsey Pingel, Christen Edmonds, Kristen Ford, Carsen Bahn and Claire Segar all won in singles. The doubles teams of Sarah Ford-Pingel, Kristen Ford-Edmonds and Bahn-Segar also were victorious.

The Tigers travel to Charleston on Thursday.

The Indians lost for the first time under first-year coach David Brummel, falling on the road.

Jackson (1-1) picked up wins in the Nos. 5 and 6 singles from Rachel Batz and Allison Keiper. The No. 3 doubles team of Batz and Erinne Haff also won.

The Indians play Kennett on Thursday.
