ST. LOUIS -- Cape Central and Jackson both compiled 1-2 records Saturday in the Cor Jesu Softball Tournament. ST. LOUIS -- Cape Central and Jackson both compiled 1-2 records Saturday in the Cor Jesu Softball Tournament.

After tournament play was washed out Friday night, Central opened Saturday with a 3-1, 11-inning victory over St. Louis Notre Dame.

Holly Schnurbusch pitched all 11innings for the Lady Tigers, allowing six hits, striking out three and walking one.

The game went to a tie-breaker format after nine innings, with Cape Central (2-3) ultimately pushing across two runs in the top of the 11th. Schnurbusch helped herself with an RBI single, which scored Trisha Klipfel, who started the inning at second base as part of the tie-breaker format. Schnurbusch later scored on an RBI groundout by Megan McDonald.

Klipfel had two of Central's eight hits in the game.

Blue Springs then handed the Lady Tigers an 11-1, five-inning loss. Laura Beard pitched one inning and suffered the loss. She allowed three hits and walked three batters.

Lindbergh followed with a 7-2 victory. Megan Kistner took the loss despite allowing just four hits.

Jackson (1-4), which opened the season with a pair of shutout losses earlier in the week, scored its first runs of the year and picked up its first victory. The Lady Indians finally found the scoreboard in a 5-4 loss to Lindbergh. Casey Hobeck suffered the loss. Jackson trailed 4-1 entering the top of the seventh, but managed to push across three runs. Lindbergh scored an unearned run in the bottom half for the victory.

Jefferson City then handed Jackson another 5-4 loss as Heather Tuschhoff came out on the losing end. Jefferson City scored all five of its runs in the second inning.

Jackson picked up its first win with an 8-2 victory over Rosary. Ashley Snell notched the win while Tuschhoff picked up the save.

Sophomore Kelly Riggs led Jackson on the day by going 4-for 11.

Delta splits pair

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Poplar Bluff's varsity handed Delta a 4-2 loss, before the Lady Bobcats rebounded with a 3-0 victory over the Lady Mules' JV.

Rebecca Cook suffered the loss in the opener, allowing four hits, striking out five and walking three. Sarah Cook went 3-for-4 for Delta (1-2), while Ashley Elliott was 2-for-3.

Sarah Cook hurled a one-hitter against Poplar Bluff's JV, striking out eight batters and walking no one.

Elliott went 3-for-3 while Lexi Nussbaum and Rebecca Below both had a pair of hits. Below opened the game with a leadoff home run.
