CHARLESTON -- Cape Girardeau Central High's girls basketball team cleared its bench early and often Monday night as the Lady Tigers rolled past host Charleston 61-28.

Nichole Thiele scored 22 points while Brooke Spradling added 10 for the Lady Tigers, who raised their record to 13-2.

Charleston, which fell to 7-9, got 10 points from Emily Hobbs. The Lady Blue Jays played without leading scorer Talisha Haynes, who suffered a knee injury during Saturday's game.

"Charleston was down tonight without Haynes, but it was a good opportunity for us," said Central coach Paula Watkins. "Everybody got to play. Our subs probably played more than our starters. You need games like that every once in a while."

The Lady Tigers build a 37-16 halftime lead and coasted in the second half.

Central will return to action Thursday night at Kelly. Charleston will also play Thursday, hosting East Prairie.

Notre Dame 53

Delta 46

Rachael Schlosser scored 19 points to lead Notre Dame to a hard-fought victory over visiting Delta Monday night.

Melissa Maurer had 11 points and Randi Senciboy contributed 10 for the Lady Bulldogs, who are now 11-5.

Delta got 15 points from Jody Below and 11 from Amanda McDaniels.

"We didn't play all that great. We had 22 turnovers," said Notre Dame coach Jerry Grim. "But Delta has a good team and they're well coached. It was pretty close the whole way."

The Lady Bulldogs led 30-21 at halftime but never could totally shake the Lady Bobcats.

Notre Dame returns to action Wednesday night at Fredericktown. The Lady Bulldogs host Jackson Thursday night. Delta hosts Chaffee Thursday night.
