Central's baseball squad struggled defensively Friday as the Tigers dropped two more games in the 20-team Trojan Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The Tigers, who made two errors during a loss Thursday in their tournament opener, committed nine more errors Friday as they lost to Livingston (Tenn.) 10-0 in five innings and Boyd-Buchanan (Tenn.) 5-4 in eight innings.

Against Livingston (8-12), Central (6-6) had just three hits. Jake Welch was the losing pitcher, allowing nine hits and seven runs (five earned) in three innings. Ben Johnson gave up two hits and three runs -- all unearned -- in two innings.

Central led Boyd-Buchanan (11-7) 4-3 entering the final regulation inning, but Boyd-Buchanan scored the tying run in the bottom of the seventh, then won the game in the bottom of the eighth.

Mark Dunaway paced Central's eight-hit attack with two doubles. Lucas Presson and Colin Schermann both added two hits.

Seth Hudson took the loss in relief. He gave up two runs -- both unearned -- and three hits over the final three innings.

Sophomore starter Tyrone Reece, making his first varsity appearance, allowed three runs (two earned) and four hits in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out five and walked four.

The Tigers will close out the tournament with two more games today, at 8 a.m. against host Soudy-Daisy and against an undetermined opponent later in the day.

Perryville wins twice

Perryville posted two victories in the Fralish Cup Tournament in Carbondale, Ill., to advance to today's semifinal round.

The Pirates (6-4-2) beat Highland (Ill.) 1-0 behind a goal from Ashley Hadler, with Anna Davis assisting. Kate Lowry recorded the shutout.

Perryville then beat Champaign (Ill.) 2-1. Davis and Christina Schremp scored, with Schremp and Amber Hacker getting assists.-- From staff reports
