Central posted a 1-0 overtime win against Sikeston to win the consolation bracket in the Notre Dame SoccerFest on Saturday.

Brooks Osburn scored the goal on an assist from Jesse Lawrence two minutes into overtime.

Central (2-1) plays Hazelwood West today at the Anheuser-Busch Center in Fenton.

SOFTBALLRams drop two

Scott City fell two games below .500 with two one-run losses Saturday at the Notre Dame SoftballFest.

Chaffee rallied with a run in the sixth and one in the bottom of the seventh to beat the Rams 2-1, and Farmington rallied from a 5-3 deficit to win 6-5.

In the opener, Chaffee's Olivia Coomer had a bases-loaded hit for the walkoff win one inning after she had tripled and scored. She finished 2-for-4.

Two walks and a catcher's interference preceded Coomer's game-winning hit.

Madeline Kiefer gave up six hits to pick up the win for Chaffee. Emily Essner gave up six hits in the loss.

Essner also took the loss in the nightcap for Scott City (3-5).

VOLLEYBALLBulldogs notes

Notre Dame won two matches Saturday to win the silver bracket in its VolleyballFest.

The Bulldogs had split with tournament fourth-place finisher Central early in the day.

In the sweeps of Caruthersville and Marshfield, Paige Schumer had a combined 17 assists.

Against Caruthersville, Meghan Dohogna had five kills and Emily Matthews four before suffering a potential season-ending back injury.

Against Marshfield, Shannon Brennan had 13 digs and four aces. Kaitlin Wibbenmeyer pounded eight kills.
