Central baseball storms past Eagles

Garrett Stevens belted a home run and drove in three runs to help propel Central to a 13-0 victory over New Madrid County Central in a SEMO Conference baseball game Tuesday.

Brad LaBruyere picked up his third win of the season on the mound, striking out nine in five innings of work. He added a double at the plate.

Blake Slattery also homered for the Tigers (8-4 overall, 5-1 conference). He finished with two RBIs.

Notre Dame climbed above .500 with a road win.

The Bulldogs improved to 6-5 behind starting pitcher Brett Heischmidt's effort. Dylan Drury had two hits and allowed a run in three innings for the save.

Rynn Eskew had two hits, including a solo home run, for the Rams. Cody Carlyle added a solo home run.

Advance scored five runs in the first inning and cruised to a home victory behind the two-hit pitching of Adam Cato and Trenton Moses.

Cato, Cameron Stevens and Nate Middleton each had two hits for Advance (7-2). David VanGennip also had a double in the Hornets' 10-hit attack.

Claudia Brauss made eight saves for the shutout.

Central fell to 5-7 with the home loss.

Courtney Besand had a goal and two assists for St. Vincent in a home win.

Brooke Brown, Sara Moll, Jessica Welker, Shelby Hotop and Mackenzie Buehler added goals for St. Vincent. Welker and Megan Sutterer had assists.

Megan Wengert made two saves for her sixth shutout. St. Vincent improved to 9-2.

BOYS TENNISCentral 5, Sikeston 4

The Tigers won four of the six singles matches to edge Sikeston in a home match.

Central's Robert Weir and Alex Kies rallied for the Tigers' lone doubles victory, which proved decisive. The pair dropped its opening set 0-6 to Logan Hampton and Charlie Jones, but the duo evened the match with a 6-0 victory, then won the tie-breaker 10-5.

Central improved to 6-2 in duals.
