The Plaza Tire Capahas suffered a 4-2 loss Wednesday night to the host St. Louis Golden Spikes.

Losing pitcher Jason Chavez allowed just five hits in seven innings, with nine strikeouts and two walks.

But Chavez hit three batters in the bottom of the seventh inning, which helped the Golden Spikes score twice to break a 2-2 tie.

Levi Olson, Brian Kurt and Jamie McAlister all had two hits for the Capahas (7-5), who finished with seven hits. Olson and Dustin Pritchett each drove in a run.

Plaza Tire loaded the bases in the top of the ninth but failed to score.

The Capahas have suffered through a rash of injuries so far this year and they were hit with another one Wednesday as Daryl Graham suffered a possible broken nose.

"He actually swung at a pitch and fouled it off, but he must have been so far ahead of it that the ball hit him in the face," Plaza Tire manager Jess Bolen said. "I've never seen anything like it."

The Capahas will host the Riverdogs Friday in a 6 p.m. doubleheader.
