~ Plaza Tire picked up a road victory against Fairview Heights.
The Plaza Tire Capahas capped off their regular season with a 10-4 road win over Fairview Heights, Ill., Tuesday night.
Plaza Tire (21-9) scored early and often and used five pitchers to shut down the host team. Robby Moore gave the Capahas the lead with a leadoff home run in the first inning before Plaza Tire rattled off two in the fourth, two in the seventh and five in the eighth to put the game away.
The Capahas collected 12 hits compared to Fairview Heights' six.
Jamie McAlister earned the win on the mound, striking out four batters in two innings of relief. McAlister (3-1) allowed one earned run on two hits.
Starting pitcher Chad Boganpohl and relievers Jason Chavez and Josh Parham allowed one run each. Shayn Mabury hurled a scoreless eighth inning.
Levi Olson was the offensive catalyst for the Capahas, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and five RBIs.
"He just rammed the ball," Plaza Tire manager Jess Bolen said.
Bryan Kurt also had three hits for the Capahas, and Scott Hubbard and Tom Bolen tallied two hits apiece.
Plaza Tire will begin play Saturday morning in the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, Kan. The Capahas will take on the Houston (Texas) Apollos at a time yet to be determined.
