Brett Heischmidt allowed one run and Anthony Wulfers hit a two-run home run, leading the Cape Girardeau Babe Ruth team in a 5-1 victory to earn a doubleheader split against the Portageville Americans on Sunday.

Cape Girardeau (10-11) lost the opener 14-6.

Heischmidt surrendered four hits and one walk while striking out six over seven innings.

In addition to Wulfers' two-run blast, Tyler Bruce had a solo home run.

In the opener, Wulfers had two hits and Jacob Wengert had three hits. Adam Thomas took the loss.

Cape, which has won seven of its last nine games, travels to Charleston tonight.
