KENNETT -- Wood & Huston Cape Junior Legion scored all seven of its run in the fifth inning as it kept its District 14 Junior Legion Tournament hopes alive with a 7-5 victory over Dunklin County in an elimination game Saturday.
Tim Wencewicz delivered the big blow for Wood & Huston (22-27) as he erased a 3-0 deficit with a three-run home run to send Cape on its way to victory.
Dunklin County had scored single runs in each of the first three innings off Cape starter Mark Wittenborn, who got the win. Wittenborn pitched six innings, gave up five hits, struck out three and walked three.
Jordan Comer pitched the seventh for the save.
Wood & Huston had 10 hits. Dustin Klipfel led the way with three hits while Wencewicz and Mitch Craft each had two hits.
Cape was pushed into the loser's bracket Friday night with a 9-3 loss to Chaffee.
Wood & Huston will face Sikeston today at 4:30 p.m. in another elimination game. Chaffee and Jackson will meet in the winner's bracket final at 2 p.m.
The tournament championship game will be played Monday at 5 p.m.

JACKSON -- Jackson posted a pair of routs over Poplar Bluff Saturday, winning the opener 16-1 and the nightcap 15-5.
Garrett Williams picked up the win in the opener. Jeremy Lynn went 3-for-4 while Josh Hopkins belted a grand slam and Matt Roethemeyer hit a three-run home run.
Doug Gross was the winning pitcher in the second game. Toby Freeman, G.P. Glueck and Gross all went 3-for-4. Glueck finished with four RBIs.
