The Cape Girardeau Ford & Sons American Legion baseball team defeated Poplar Bluff 9-5 in the Charleston tournament Friday night.
Levi Felter picked up the win as Cape improved to 1-1 in pool play and 4-1 overall.
Felter allowed four hits in five innings, striking out seven and walking two. Tyler Glidewell relieved and allowed one hit over the final two innings.
Ethan Lee had three hits and two RBIs for Cape, which had 12 hits overall. Tyler Brant and Felter each added two hits, with Felter collecting three RBIs.
Cape concludes pool play today against Fulton.
Jackson also is competing in the eight-team tournament and opened with a 14-3 loss Friday to Dunklin County. Jackson plays two pool games today.
