The Cape Girardeau Ford & Sons American Legion Post 63 baseball team won a rout and a squeaker against Scott County Senior Legion on Monday at Central High School.

Cape won the opener 11-1 in five innings, then scored the winning run on a wild pitch in a 4-3 victory.

Devin Austin was the winning pitcher in the opener, allowing five hits in a complete-game performance. He struck out three and walked one.

Thomas Crocetti and Ryan Ochoa both had two hits for Cape, while Trevor Probst scored three runs.

Logan Henson pitched four innings and took the loss for Scott County. He allowed seven hits and 10 runs -- only four were earned.

Cambron Womack was the winning pitcher in the second game for Cape (5-3). He allowed four hits and three runs in six innings.

Scott County scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning to tie the game at 3-3, but Cape went ahead for good on the wild pitch in the fifth inning.

Ochoa recorded the save with a hitless inning that included two strikeouts.

Tyler Masters suffered the loss in relief for Scott County (2-4). He allowed one hit and three walks in three innings. He struck out two and allowed one run.

Cape will host Jackson Senior Legion in a 6 p.m. doubleheader today at Capaha Field, while Scott County will return to action Thursday in the Fighting Squirrel Baseball Classic against the Charleston Senior Babe Ruth in Charleston, Mo.

Junior Legion

The Cape Plaza Junior Legion baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Sikeston at Capaha Field.

Sikeston won the opener 5-4, then won the second game 9-4.

Hayden Lynn took the loss in the first game, surrendering six hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Nick Jones had two hits and an RBI for Cape.

Cape (6-4) managed just two hits in the second game off the bats of Tyler Essner and Kaleb Oard.

Losing pitcher Ethan Hunter allowed eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.
