The Cape Girardeau Ford and Sons Post 63 American Legion baseball team posted a pair of road victories Saturday over the Charleston Fighting Squirrels.
Josh Morse and Cramer McGarr each had three hits to lead Post 63 to a 7-3 win in the opener, and five players had two hits apiece in a 12-9 win in the nightcap.
Cape scored first in each game and never trailed on the day.
In the opener, Post 63 built a 6-0 lead with two runs in the first, three in the third and a run in the fourth.
Morse also had three RBIs in the opener, and winning pitcher Chase Hagerty added two hits, including a triple. McGarr and Isaac Pender each had a double in a nine-hit attack.
Hagerty allowed just one hit in three innings. He walked two and struck out one. Nick Wiggs pitched the final four innings, allowing five hits. He struck out two and walked four.
Hunter Smithey, who had three RBIs, McGarr, Clayton Reynolds, Brock Baugher and Logan Callahan all had two hits in Post 63's 14-hit assault in the second game. Six of the hits went for doubles, including two by both Reynolds and Callahan.
Post 63 scored two runs in the second and held a 12-2 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth before Charleston staged a futile comeback that featured four runs in the sixth and three in the seventh.
T.J. Foeste pitched two hitless innings for Post 63. He struck out one and walked four. He was followed to the mound by Michael Ralls and Baugher.
Averett Colton had two of Charleston's eight hits.
Losing pitcher Brady Bibbs allowed six hits and four run over four innings.
