SIKESTON -- Ford & Sons Cape Legion split a district doubleheader with Sikeston Thursday night, dropping a squeaker before winning the nightcap in five innings.

Sikeston scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to win the opener 9-8, but then incurred the wrath of Cape in an 11-1 beating.

Ford & Sons (4-6 overall, 2-4 district) had eight hits in each game.

Dustin Glastetter suffered the loss in the opener, going the distance and allowing 11 hits. He struck out five and walked five.

Mark Fisher had three hits for Cape Legion, including a double.

Ford & Sons trailed 6-2 entering the top of the fifth inning but pushed across five runs for a 7-6 lead. Cape scored one run in the sixth for an 8-6 lead but saw Sikeston pull even in the bottom of the frame.

Sikeston then loaded the bases with nobody out in the seventh before scoring the winning run.

In the nightcap, Garrett Broshuis allowed just three hits. He struck out seven and walked just one.

Broshuis, Tommy Wencewicz and Richard Harrison all had two hits for Ford & Sons.

Cape led just 3-1 after three inning but scored three runs in the fourth and five in the fifth.
