The Cape Girardeau Plaza Tire American Legion junior team is the District 14 tournament champion.
Cape completed a perfect run through the tournament played in Kennett despite being seeded fourth, capped by Saturday's 9-8 win over second-seeded Scott County.
Ronnie Scott was the winning pitcher for Cape (26-17), with Jamie Pickel earning a save.
Josh Hiett had four hits and drove in three runs, while Pickel homered and doubled among his three hits. Eric Hayes had three hits and three RBIs.
Cape will host the zone tournament beginning Thursday.
Jackson Legion sweeps
The Jackson American Legion senior team posted its second doubleheader sweep in two days Saturday by winning a pair of 5-4 games from Calvert City, Ky.
Austin Neal was the winning pitcher in the opener and Chad Scroggins notched a save. Ryan Cheney doubled twice and Blake Reiminger added two hits.
Travis Hurst pitched a complete game in the nightcap. Blake Reiminger had three hits and two RBIs, Scroggins added two hits and Cheney homered.
Friday night, Jackson (23-14) swept a doubleheader from District 14 rival Dunklin County, 8-7 and 9-1.
Jackson has a district game today at Scott County at 5 p.m.
