Best Mortgage Cape Junior Legion continued its strong season Tuesday night with a doubleheader sweep of Jackson at Capaha Field.
Cape won the first game 13-3 in five innings then won the nightcap 13-10.
The victories improved Best Mortgage's record to 25-4.
Dustin Tatum, Seth Hudson and Chris Conrad all had four hits in the opener. Tatum's hits included a home run and he finished with four RBIs. Aaron Dohogne added three hits as Cape had 19 overall.
John Thies allowed six hits in picking up the win. He struck out six and walked two.
Best Mortgage banged out 12 hits in the nightcap as it overcame an early deficit.
With Jackson leading 7-3 in the second inning, Cape scored eight times for an 11-7 lead and never trailed again.
Mark Dunaway led Cape with three hits while Hudson, Conrad and Chris Daniel had two apiece.
Matt Wulfers pitched five innings of three-hit relief for the win. He struck out three and walked one.
Chaffee Legion sweeps Perryville
CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Chaffee Legion squeaked out a 1-0 victory over Perryville in the opener of a doubleheader and then topped Perryville 7-3 in the nightcap for the sweep.
Andrew DePeder lofted a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning to score John O'Rourke with the winning run in the opener. O'Rourke had doubled and advanced to third on a passed ball.
The run made a winner of Adam Friga, who allowed just two hits and walked one in seven innings. Friga struck four.
O'Rourke was the winning pitcher in the second game, allowing two hits, fanning four and issuing three walks in three innings. G.P. Glueck and Matt Stroup also combined four innings of three-hit relief.
DePeder led Chaffee (10-5) with a home run and a triple while Justin Simpher also had a pair of hits.
