The Cape Girardeau Post 63 Plaza Tire Junior American Legion baseball team defeated Sikeston 4-3 in eight innings in its first game Saturday at the district tournament.

Aaron Wendell's single knocked in Steven Brennan for the winning run in the eighth inning. Post 63 played Jackson later Saturday, but the game ended too late to be included in today's edition.

Brennan reached in the eighth with a single then stole second to get into scoring position. He finished the game 2 for 3.

Wendell went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Justin Modglin collected two hits in the win.

Ryan Moses earned the win with a complete-game effort. He struck out two and walked two.
