The Cape Girardeau American Legion team bounced back from a 6-3 loss in the opener of a doubleheader with Twin Rivers to take the second game 9-5 Wednesday night at Capaha Field.
Ford and Sons improved to 4-4, as Anthony Wulfers picked up the win with five innings of work. Sean Bard had four hits to lead Cape's offense. Ty Craft and Lance Young had two hits apiece.
The Cape Girardeau Senior Babe Ruth baseball team swept a doubleheader at Chaffee on Wednesday night.
Cape (4-2) won the opener 7-3 and routed Chaffee in the second game 17-1 in five innings.
Josh Mayberry pitched all seven innings for the win in the opener.
Logan Haines led the offense in the second game with three hits. Tyler Bruce, Nathan Kolda and Jocob Wengert had two hits apiece. Adam Thomas pitched all five in the second game.
The Jackson Senior Babe Ruth baseball team improved to 11-1 with a pair of wins by forfeit Wednesday.
Dexter's Senior Babe Ruth squad did not have enough players to field a team.
On Tuesday, Jackson edged Charleston 3-2 in the first game of a doubleheader, then routed the host 9-1 in the nightcap.
Brandon Stearns scattered four-hits en route to a complete game win in the opener, and Brett Groening led Jackson's offense with two hits.
In the second game, Jackson pitcher Ryan Watkins allowed five hits and earned the complete-game victory. Groening, Tyler Profilet, Aaron Green and Tommy Wood had two hits apiece for Jackson.
