CAPE CENTRAL SWIMMERS DEFEAT OAKVILLE FOR FIRST DUAL MEAT WIN

Cape Central girls swim team picked up its first dual meet victory of the season Monday with a 111-75 victory over Oakville.

The Lady Tigers had seven first-place finishes, including a state-qualifying time by it 200 freestyle relay team. The quartet of Jean Maguire, Katie Maginel, Casey Brennan and Mary Beth Owen combined for a 1:49.51.

Owen had first-place finishes in the 200 IM and 200 freestyle while Maguire was first in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Marcie Kester touched the wall first in the 100 freestyle and the 400 freestyle relay turned in a first.

Cape Central improved to 1-2 in duels.

"They were a little weaker team than what we had seen, but we enjoyed winning," said Cape Central coach Dayna Powell.
