Cape Central dashed through Dexter 9-4 on Saturday at Cape Central High School to put an end to a five-game losing streak.

The Tigers started the season 2-0 before slumping and dropping down to 2-5 before rebounding over a Dexter defeat.

Cole Proffer started the scoring for the Tigers with an RBI double in the first inning.

The Tigers added three more runs in the fourth inning thanks to a base hit by Deklin Pittman and a double by Carter Crosnoe.

Overall, the Tigers collected 14 hits. Crosnoe, Pittman, Proffer, Morgan Diamond, and Cade Emmenderfer, each had multiple hits, and Crosnoe went 3-for-4 with two doubles at the plate to lead the way.

Jackson Witvoet started the game and earned the win for the Tigers. The righty lasted 4.1 innings, allowing two hits and four runs while striking out five and walking one. Chapman Ogles came in relief and threw 2.2 shutout innings with five strikeouts.

Dexter starting pitcher Ryan Young took the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits with four strikeouts over two innings.

The Bearcats staged a rally in the fifth inning with Gibson Booker and Cole Nichols combining to drive in three runs. Nichols led the Bearcats with two hits in four at-bats.

Cape Central's (3-5) win came off the heels of a 7-3 loss to Hazelwood West in Game 1 of Saturday's triple-header, which included Jackson's bout with the Wildcats.

TJ Klipfel was on the mound for the Tigers, throwing five innings, allowing three runs on six hits, and striking out five. Valdi Zalite threw two innings out of the bullpen.

Cape Central tallied seven hits. Crosnoe and Jathan Spain knocked in multiple hits for the Tigers. Crosnoe went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits.

The Tigers will host the Seckman Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday in a battle of the big cats.
