JEFFERSON CITY -- By practicing what coach Tom Doyle described as good ball control and passing, Cape Central's soccer team took control of the scoring and shut the Springfield-Greenwood 3-0 Friday night at the Jefferson City Tournament.

The first goal of the match was scored by Mick Metzger, with an assist by Chris Cole 11:00 minutes into the first half, which is where the score remained at the end of the first half.

At the 67-minute mark of the game, Bret McNabb scored on a penalty kick.

Three minutes later, Mark Bret scored from 20 yards out, as Jon Mark Thompson dished out the assist.

The Tigers take their 7-5 record against Waynesville at today at 10:30 a.m. and finish up with Mexico at 1 p.m.

GIRLS TENNIS

Jackson 8, Carbondale Ill. 1

CARBONDALE -- The Lady Indians continued to dominate their opponents and pushed their record to 10-1 in a nearly perfect match against Carbondale on the road.

Jackson's JV squad lost 3-6.
