FARMINGTON, Mo. -- The Cape Girardeau Central High School boys soccer team picked up its 20th victory of the season Monday afternoon, but coach Tom Doyle said the Tigers were less than impressive.

Central, which earlier in the year destroyed Farmington 10-0, found itself in a scoreless tie for 60 minutes against the host Knights. But the Tigers exploded for four goals in a seven-minute span and cruised to a 4-0 victory.

"We probably played our worst game of the year," said Doyle, whose squad improved its record to 20-3-1 by recording its 15th straight triumph. "But it's nice to win 20 games. It means you've done something right during the year."

The Tigers have compiled their most victories since the 1994 squad went 24-2.

Whit Lynn scored two goals while Jon Mark Thompson and Grant Hengst each added one. Arthur Pilsner, Bryan Ross, Eric Daume and Nathan Foley recorded assists. Jeff McCowan and Aaron Meystedt each played one half in the nets as they shared the shutout.

Central's JV posted a 5-0 victory.

The Tigers will close out the regular season Thursday as they host Jackson in a 5 p.m. Senior Night game.
