Cape Central's golf team edged out Farmington by four shots in a dual meet Wednesday at Cape Girardeau C.C.

The Tigers finished with a 162 total to 166 for the Knights.

Central's Nick Harter and Farmington's Eric Griggs tied for medalist honor with 3-over-par 38 on the front nine.

For Cape Central (3-1), Paul York added a 40, Todd Obergoenner had 41 and Walter Lents and Tyson Seabaugh tied at 43.

James Shaner shot a 40 for Farmington while Adam Schweiss and Travis Trohinger both carded 44s.

SOCCER

Jackson 10, Hillsboro 0

JACKSON, Mo. -- Dana Wright scored three goals and had an assist as Jackson won its home opener.

Lacie Hodo added two goals and two assists for the Lady Indians (3-2), while K.T. Bari had two goals and one assist. Scoring one goal each were Ashley Myer and Courtney Urhahn. Ashley Bartels, Kenzie Turler and Urhahn each posted single assists.

Whitney Werner recorded the shutout in goal.

Jackson's junior varsity won 2-0 on goals by Leah Lorberg and Emily Curtis.

SOFTBALL

Scott City 15, Oak Ridge 5

OAK RIDGE, Mo. -- Sidney Baer went 4-for-4 with five runs batted in as Scott City used a seven-run fifth to blow past Oak Ridge in six innings.

Lindsey Baker went 2-for-5 with a triple and Kristin Schaefer went 2-for-3 for the Lady Rams (3-0)

Shana Wadlington got the win in 4 2/3 innings of shutout relief. She allowed only one hit and no walks while striking out nine. Wadlington entered the game in the third inning with Oak Ridge (0-2) leading 5-2.

The Lady Rams tied the score with two runs in the third and one in the fourth.

Laura Glueck suffered the loss. She went six innings and allowed 11 hits and nine walks while striking out six.

Candice Shaper had a two-run homer for Oak Ridge and Cassie Ludwig had a pair of hits.

TRACK & FIELD

Jackson sweeps triangular

JACKSON , Mo. Jackson's boys and girls both won triangular meets over Fredericktown and Dexter on Wednesday.

Jackson's boys lapped both its oppenents several times with 128 points. Fredericktown had 32 and Dexter had 20.

Jackson's girls weren't quite as dominant, but won with 81 points. Dexter was second with 64, followed by Fredericktown with 17.

Jackson's boys won 14 of the 15 individual events. Mario Whitney (100, 200, long jump) was a triple winner and John Coleman (high hurdles, 300 hurdles) was a double winner.

The Lady Indians won nine events.

BOYS TENNIS

Central 7, Carbondale 2

Cape Central lost its matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but won everything else as the Tigers remained undefeated in dual matches.

"We were solid in doubles today, but we came down in our singles, espeically at one and two," Central coach Bud Craven said.

Central (3-0) will have four matches next week.

Central's junior varsity team posted a 10-2 victory.
