After scoring only 24 points in its previous outing, Cape Central's girls basketball team rediscovered its scoring touch Monday in a 62-26 victory over Scott City.
The Lady Tigers nearly matched their point production in Saturday's loss to Parkway West -- a 40-24 setback -- in the first quarter of Monday's game as it bolted out to a 23-7 lead.
Cape Central (12-3) tacked on 17 more points in the second quarter for a commanding 40-11 lead at halftime.
"I thought we shot the ball a little better than Saturday and played real well defensively," said Cape Central coach Darrick Smith.
Mindy Hoffman led Cape Central with 16 points and Heather Jenkins added 12.
Jenny Pinkston scored a team-high eight points for Scott City (4-8).
Cape Central won the JV contest 28-13. Kate Richards scored a team-high 11 points.
Jackson 66, Perryville 28
JACKSON -- The Lady Indians outscored the Perryville in every quarter to improve 8-7.
"People say that Jackson is down this year, but I doubt it," said Perryville coach Vicki Lohman. "We were a little sluggish tonight, and I credit that to Jackson's defense."
Jackson took a 40-22 lead into the second half, where the Lady Indians held Perryville (8-9) to six points over the last 16 minutes.
"This was a good game for some of the young players," said Jackson coach Ron Cook. "We came out shooting well, including the free throws. We haven't shot very well on the road, though, something we have to overcome."
Andrea Koeper and Alicia Burns led Jackson in scoring with 18 points apiece.
Stacy Baer led the way for Perryville, notching 10 points.
Notre Dame 61, Delta 26
DELTA -- Notre Dame improved its record to 13-3 with a lopsided win over Delta.
The Lady Bulldogs outscored Delta 36-17 in the first half and took a 56-20 lead into the fourth quarter.
Lisa Millham paced Notre Dame with a game-high 20 points, Deana McCormick pitched in with 12 points and Jessica Seratti added 11.
Rebecca Below was the lone Delta player in double figures, finishing with 14 points.
Oran 42, Hayti 10
ORAN -- The Lady Eagles held Hayti scoreless in the first and fourth quarters in a rout at home.
Oran (7-5) outscored Hayti 16-0 in the first eight minutes and took a 28-3 lead into the third quarter.
Heather Cook scored a game-high 11 points for Oran
Kelly 50, Woodland 26
BENTON -- The Lady Hawks outscored Woodland 16-1 in the third quarter en route to an easy win.
Kelly (14-3) jumped out to a 16-12 lead in the opening period and went on to take a 24-16 advantage into halftime. In need of a comeback, Woodland netted just one point instead in the third quarter.
Bridgett Riley led the way for Kelly by netting 15 points, followed by Dana Essner with 13 points and Marissa Essner with 11.
Lilo Whitener led Woodland with 13 points.
St. Vincent 51, Ste. Genevieve 38
STE. GENEVIEVE -- St. Vincent was able to defeat Ste. Genevieve and improve to 11-4 for their season, thanks in part to a trio of players scoring in double figures for the Squaws.
Sara Cissell knocked down four 3-pointers, en route to scoring a game-high 16 points. Jessica Lakenan scored 14 points while Danielle Sutterer added 13.
St. Vincent outscored Ste. Genevieve 16-10 in the first period and took a 23-17 into halftime. The Squaws outscored Ste. Genevieve 28-21 over the last 16 minutes to take the win.
St. Vincent won despite going only 5-16 from the line.
"We came out a little slow I guess," said St. Vincent coach Terry Wengert. "We played well enough to win, but we have to work on our free throws."
Scott County Central 66, Neelyville 57
NEELYVILLE -- Vontrice Blackmon led the Bravettes to victory, popping for a game-high 30 points.
Scott County (10-5) got off to 17-12 lead in the first quarter and led 31-27 at halftime. The Bravettes pulled away in the third quarter, extending their lead to 52-39.
"Three out of my eight players were out with the flu, and that held us back quite a bit," said Scott County Central coach Semona Penrod.
Brandy Miller added 13 points for Scott County while Ashley Brown had 12 and Lekeya Turner had 11.
Tawana Johnson netted 22 for Neelyville.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Notre Dame 69, Delta 61
DELTA -- Trailing 42-35, Notre Dame outscored Delta 20-6 in the third quarter as it rallied for the victory.
"We played hard, which was our main goal coming into this game," said Delta coach Jim Gloth. "The last time (we played against them) they whipped up on us pretty good. We just wanted to play hard and smart this time."
Notre Dame (10-8) started well, edging past Delta for a 20-17 lead in the first quarter, but Delta answered back with a 25-15 scoring advantage in the second quarter for the halftime lead.
Delta hit for all eight of its 3-pointers in the first half.
With its strong third quarter, Notre Dame took a 55-48 lead into the final period. The teams played to a 13-13 stalemate over the final eight minutes.
Notre Dame played without its leading scorer Chris Dirnberger.
"That hurt our flow," said Notre Dame coach Chris Neff. "We really battled hard in the second half. That's a big win for us, because we've really been struggling of late."
Adam Obermiller sank a game-high 20 points for the Bulldogs, followed by Josh Eftink's 13 points and Jonathon Ressel's 10 points.
Josh Altenthal notched 17 points to lead Delta while teammate Allen Rhodes added 16.
