Plaza Tire left-hander Skylar Cobb turned in a dominating pitching performance in the first game of a doubleheader against the host Springfield (Ill.) Pallys, and the Capahas went on to a sweep Sunday.
Cobb struck out 13 batters in an 8-1 victory, and the Capahas extended their winning streak to four games with a 9-3 win in the nightcap.
Cobb, a Scott City product who recently completed his junior season at Southeast Missouri State, did not walk a batter during the seven-inning game and yielded just two hits. Both hits came in the fourth inning, in which the Pallys scored their lone run.
The Capahas (25-3) took a 6-0 lead with a run in the first and five runs in the second.
Mark Hagedorn went 4 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. Jake Pewitt had three hits, while Brandon Bennett had two. The Capahas banged out 13 hits in the game.
Plaza Tire scored in each of the first four innings -- multiple runs in the first, third and fourth -- of the nightcap and used the combined pitching of Andrew Williams and Lance Young to stay out front.

Williams allowed four hits and one run over five innings. He struck out three and did not walk a batter. Young gave up two hits and two runs over the final two innings. He fanned three and walked one.
The Marble Hill Senior Babe Ruth team defeated the Scott County Senior American Legion baseball team 16-4.
