STE. GENEVIEVE -- The McDowell Capahas were well on their way to another doubleheader sweep Tuesday night over the Ste. Genevieve Yanks, winning the first game 21-8 and leading the second 11-0 entering the bottom of the fifth as the Southeast Missourian went to press.
The two wins improved McDowell to 26-10 on the year.
Tom Bolen had a huge night with two home runs in the first game and he added another homer in the second contest. Bolen went 3-for-4 win the first game with the home runs both driving in two runs.
The Capahas totaled 16 hits in the first game and smacked five home runs. Lance Craft ripped a grand slam, and Robert Kern and Shawn Pemberton added home runs.
Darrick Smith and Steve Kress both collected three hits each.
Jerry Wolsey pitched the first three innings of the victory, with Kevin Vent and Lanson DeBrock each providing two innings of relief.
In the second game, Joey Scholl pitched three perfect innings, striking out five, to start the game. Danny Simpher came was on the mound to close out the win in the bottom of the fifth.
Kress added a home run in the second game and Darrick Smith had a two-run hit.
The Capahas will hold their raffle drawing tonight at Capaha Field during practice.
