The Plaza Tire Capahas, after winning their first three games at home, hit the road for the first time over the weekend.

Manager Jess Bolen's squad showed no ill effects from traveling to the St. Louis area for three contests.

The Capahas remained undefeated, routing the St. Louis Bulls 10-0 Friday night and sweeping a doubleheader from perennial power Waterloo (Ill.) Saturday afternoon 6-5 and 7-4.

"It was a good weekend for us," said Bolen, whose team improved to 6-0. "To tell you the truth it was a little bit surprising to go to Waterloo and sweep a doubleheader. They don't lose many doubleheaders at home."

The Capahas had little trouble against the Bulls, collecting 12 hits.

Kody Campbell, Mark Hagedorn and Kenton Parmley all had two hits. Campbell, Parmley and Logan Bartels added two RBIs apiece.

Skylar Cobb improved to 2-0 on the mound as he pitched the first six innings. He struck out 10, walked two and allowed five hits.

Steven Dooley, who joined the Capahas over the weekend after finishing a record-setting, All-American career at Division III Webster University in St. louis, worked the final three innings.

Dooley, an Oran High School graduate, struck out four, walked two and allowed two hits.

"He looked good. He's going to help us," Bolen said.

Saturday's opener against Waterloo saw the Capahas rally with three runs in the top of the seventh inning to wipe out a 5-3 deficit.

Adam Blum singled with one out and Jordan Kimball singled. Christian Cavaness drove in a run with a fielder's choice as the second out was recorded.

Parmley walked, then Campbell delivered a game-winning two-RBI double with two strikes.

"That was really an exciting win," Bolen said. "Two strikes and two outs, and you get the tying and winning run, that's a really sweet win."

Campbell had three of the Capahas' nine hits. He doubled twice and delivered three RBIs. Kimball added two hits.

Kyle Marshall pitched all seven inning. He allowed six hits and five runs, struck out four and walked two. He retired the last seven batters he faced.

"He really finished strong," Bolen said.

The Capahas then built a 7-2 lead through four innings of the nightcap to post the sweep.

Blum had two of the Capahas' seven hits. Brandon Bennett belted a two-run homer while Campbell and Grant Gray both added two RBIs.

Andrew Williams worked all seven innings as he moved to 2-0. He scattered 10 hits, allowed two earned runs and struck out five while walking one.

"He had a good day. That's a tough club to pitch against for a 19 year old," Bolen said.

The Capahas continue a stretch of six straight road games Tuesday night when they play the St. Louis Printers in Ste. Genevieve.
