One run over 14 innings Sunday led to the first two losses of the season for the Capahas, as Plaza Tire suffered 8-1 and 5-0 setbacks to the Tradewater Pirates in Dawson Springs, Ky.

The Capahas, who fell to 2-2, could muster just a fourth-inning RBI single by Jamie McAlister in the opener, one of six hits in the game. The Capahas had just four hits in the second game.

"I can't fault our pitching," said Capahas manager Jess Bolen. "If you don't score, you're not going to win -- no matter what your pitching does."

Starting pitcher Kyle Perry suffered the loss in the opener. He allowed four runs and three hits in two innings. Chad Bogenpohl gave up two runs and five hits over the next two innings, and Shane Mayberry surrendered two more runs and three hits in two innings.

Tradewater (9-0) outhit the Capahas 11-6.

McAlister took the loss in the second game, giving up five runs and six hits in five innings. He struck out five and walked one. Josh Parham followed with a hitless inning.

The Pirates collected five of their six hits in a five-run third inning.

The Capahas return to action Friday night when Waterloo, Ill., visits Capaha Field at 7:30 p.m.
