Former Southeast Missouri State baseball player Kody Campbell is among two recipients of the 2012-13 Vernon Holland Scholarship Award presented annually by the Ohio Valley Conference.

The Vernon Holland Scholarships promote the graduate-level studies of former OVC student-athletes who are interested in a career tied to sports.

Applicants must be former OVC student-athletes who have attained a bachelor's degree from an OVC institution by the conclusion of the 2012-13 academic year; attained a cumulative 3.0 or higher undergraduate grade point average; been accepted to graduate school for the 2013-14 academic year; and exhausted their athletic eligibility at an OVC institution.

Campbell finished his degree in May of 2012, earning a 3.95 grade-point average while majoring in sports management with a minor in business administration. He achieved Dean's List honors in each semester and was selected to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll all four years as a Redhawk.

Campbell hit .280 with eight home runs and 40 RBIs as a senior last year.

The Oran High School graduate is currently pursuing his master's degree in higher education at Southeast with a focus on athletic administration. His career goal is to become a Division I director of athletics.

Tennessee Tech softball player Claudia Harke was the other recipient of the award.
