The Oran softball team made the switch from playing in the spring to the fall this season. And the Lady Eagles are enjoying themselves so far winning the Class 1 District 1 title this past weekend to earn a date with Miller in sectionals today.

Strong pitching has been an important part of the Lady Eagles successful playoff run. They are led by ace Callie Kielhofner who in the district championship game against Naylor on Saturday gave up just three hits and one walk while striking out five batters.

"It felt great because it's our first year in fall ball," she said of the district title. "It's a great accomplishment because since freshman year we've been trying to get fall ball and as a senior knowing it's our last year we want to make the most out of it."

Kielhofner's record this season is 12-2. She will make the start again today.

She said her team has faced stronger competition during her senior season, which is another reason she favors fall softball.

"It's definitely more of a challenge," she said. "These teams here are more challenging but we've been able to win. … It's more serious and we get more recognition. We were really jealous of the [Oran] baseball [team] going to state but now it is finally us. So it feels good."
