SENATH, Mo. — Portageville unleashed its offensive firepower in a 15-0 mercy-rule victory over Campbell in the MSHSAA Class 2, District 1 Semifinals on Friday, May 10.

"I'm proud of the kids,” said Portageville coach Tyler Trover. “We took care of business. Our goal from day one was to reach the district championship and give ourselves a chance to make it to the state playoffs. Hopefully, we play well on Monday and earn that opportunity."

The Bulldogs (26-7) wasted no time, exploding for six runs in the first inning. Carson Bradley's single plated Aaron Dunlap, followed by Beau-Hunter Warren scoring on a passed ball. Jayquan Bogan's RBI single brought home Bradley, then Conner Johnson scored on a bases-loaded walk. Aaron Dunlap capped off the rally with a two-RBI single, scoring Hustin Partin and Jayquan Bogan.

The onslaught continued in the second inning, with Rylan Partin scoring on a passed ball to make it 7-0.

The rout continued in the third inning as Mason Adams smacked a two-RBI double, plating Hustin Partin and Xayvion Bogan. Portageville pushed the lead to 12-0 later in the inning when a sacrifice fly by Rylan Partin scored Dunlap, Adams scored on an error and Warren scored on another passed ball.

The fourth inning saw the final three runs cross the plate, sealing the lop-sided win. Xayvion Bogan scored on a passed ball, and Warren's double brought home Dunlap and Adams for the final tally.

Warren earned the win after two dominant innings, striking out three while allowing no runs and just two hits.

Xayvion Bogan closed the game with two scoreless innings, striking out four and allowing only one hit.

Campbell finished the year with a record of 11-10.

Portageville will face Senath-Hornersville (12-7) for the district title on Monday, May 13 at 4 p.m.
