POPLAR BLUFF -- Scott County Central's girls basketball team couldn't recover from a first-quarter deficit and lost its Class 1A sectional game Wednesday at Poplar Bluff High School 62-53 to Bunker.
Bunker led 21-12 after one quarter. From there the teams played to a 41-41 draw.
Bunker led 29-25 at the break and 44-35 entering the final quarter.
Bunker improved to 21-3, ending Scott Central's season at 14-12.
The majority of Bunker's scoring came from the duo of Ginger Copeland and Amanda Ritter. The two scored 20 points apiece and had 40 of the 62 points.
For the Bravettes, Vontrice Blackmon led all scorers with 22 points, Ashley Whitson added 12 and Jamie Sadler totaled 11.
In the boys sectional game, defending state champion Richland beat Winona 67-50.
