ST. LOUIS -- Notre Dame boys basketball team picked up its first road win of the season Saturday, defeating Carrolton (Ill.) 50-41 in a game played at Webster University.

The Bulldogs' 6-foot-7 center Anthony Ressel proved a force throughout the game, finishing with a game-high 19 points while pulling down 10 rebounds and blocking eight shots.

"He had a humongous game for us," said Notre Dame coach Chris Janet, who saw his team improve to 2-4 on the season.

Ressel scored eight of his points in the first quarter and had 14 of Notre Dame's 21 first-half points. The Bulldogs led 14-6 after the first quarter and held a 21-17 lead at intermission. Notre Dame took a 37-32 lead into the fourth quarter.

Michael Wehner scored 12 points off the bench for Notre Dame and grabbed seven rebounds as Notre Dame held a 37-23 edge on the boards. Jason Rubel added four blocked shots.

"I thought we really used our size well," said Janet.

Notre Dame returns to action Saturday with a first-round game against Advance.
