Brody Chrisman powered the Cape Catfish offense by hitting three home runs and drove in 10 runs, leading to a 17-6 blowout road win over the O'Fallon Hoots on Saturday, June 10, in O'Fallon, Missouri.
The freshman from Purdue also hit his second grand slam of the week. He went 4 for 4 to boost his batting average from .469 to .528, which ranks second in the Prospect League to his teammate, Chris Hall (.622).
"I’m just trying to go out there and enjoy the game and do what I can to help the team,” Chrisman said after the game.
The Catfish remain the lone undefeated team in the Prospect League, having extended their season-opening winning streak to nine.
The Catfish took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on Chrisman's first RBI of the night.
Upon entering the third inning down 3-1, Chrisman tied the game with a two-run home run to bring the Catfish back in the game. Chrisman walked with the bases loaded in the fourth inning to lead to the go-ahead run.
Caden Bogenpohl drove in a run on a double and scored a run as Hall walked with the bases loaded. Chrisman highlighted the Catfish's six-run rally in the fifth inning with a grand slam.
With the bases loaded in the seventh inning. Chrisman and Lane Crowden were both hit by pitches to walk in a run each.
Chrisman's final home run came in the ninth inning. Quinton Borders and Jeff Clarke each drove in a run on a single to round out the scoring for the Catfish.
The Catfish are back in action Sunday, traveling to Marion, Illinois, to take on the Thrillville Thrillbillies at 6:18 p.m.
The Catfish return to Capaha Field on Monday for three straight home games, starting with a 6:35 p.m nightcap against Southern Illinois.
