Thomas beat Kate Ciler 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The Otahkians' other singles win came from No. 6 Kay Ehlke, who defeated Courtney Ivers 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Southeast won a doubles match as the No. 2 team of Jennifer Kirk and Kathleen Davis prevailed 8-5.

In other singles matches, all Western Illinois wins, No. 2 Selma Kurtagie beat Adrienne Bland 6-3, 6-0; No. 3 Emmy Cilek defeated Kirk 6-1, 6-0; No. 4 Kristi Dunham downed Davis 6-2, 6-3; No. 5 Mandy Gourley defeated Andrea Aldana 6-1, 6-1; and No. 7 Dani Dunhan knocked off Katie Barry 6-1, 6-1.

The Otahkians lost two of three doubles matches, with No. 1 Thomas/Bland falling 8-5 and No. 3 Aldana/Ehlke losing 8-2.
