The surgery at Rockford Memorial Hospital was termed a success with DeMond expected to make a full recovery in about three months.

DeMond, 6-foot-7, suffered the injury while warming up for the 400-meter race at the Illinois sectional track championships at Freeport, Ill., on May 22.

DeMond averaged 16 points and eight rebounds per game while scoring over 1,200 career points at Hononegah High School. He had 366 career blocks.
