BRIEFLY: SE SIGNS SOMMERKAMP

Southeast Missouri State University's baseball team has announced the signing of South Alabama transfer David Sommerkamp.

Sommerkamp, who previously played at Jefferson County Community College, obtained a medical redshirt last season at South Alabama after injuring his shoulder.

Sommerkamp, a junior, plays catcher as well as infield. He batted .341 with 14 home runs at JeffCo.

"He is someone we recruited a year ago," said Southeast coach Mark Hogan. "To get him now is a big break for us because he is a proven player at the Division I level."
