The Kohlfeld Scorpions Rugby Club of Cape Girardeau kicked off the fall season with a second-place finish at the Ramblers 10 Tournament in St. Louis last weekend.
Kohlfeld had a 2-1 tourney record, losing 3-0 to the St. Louis Hornets for the title. The Scorpions won the Ramblers Tournament in 1997.
The Scorpions began the tourney with a 42-0 romp past the St. Louis Ramblers and continued with a 17-5 win over the Columbia Outlaws. Scorpion scorers included Marc Harris, Dan Grimm, Alan Kloss and Marc Freeman.
The fall rugby season runs through early November. Any players interested in competing are encouraged to practice with the Scorpions at any time. The Scorpions practice Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7 p.m. at Arena Park on Hawthorne Road. No experience is necessary.
Kohlfeld's home opener is Sept. 12 against the St. Louis Bombers.
