Donna Ryan has been named the interim head women's tennis coach at Southeast Missouri State University. She replaces Marla Reid, who recently resigned to become the head men's and women's tennis coach at Eastern Illinois.
Ryan is excited about taking over the Otahkians' program.
"Southeast seemed to have a real need for a coach right now," she said. "I want to work with the players and help them to develop. They are a very nice group of young ladies and are easy to work with. I am looking forward to it."
Ryan, who lives in Jackson, has been the director of tennis at Universal Health and Fitness Center in Cape Girardeau since June of 1990. Prior to that, she was an assistant professional at Terrell Mill Tennis Center in Marietta, Ga., for eight years.
During the spring schedule, Southeast will conduct a national search for a permanent coach. The spring season begins Feb. 28 with a home match against Tennessee State.
