BRIEFLY: OVC LOOKING INTO INCIDENT

The Ohio Valley Conference is in the process of investigating the altercation that took place between players and fans during the OVC baseball tournament held Thursday through Saturday in Cape Girardeau.

Just moments after Morehead State's 10-9 loss to host Southeast Missouri State Thursday night, several Morehead players and a group of fans became involved in an altercation.

Morehead pitcher Rick Cercy suffered a broken leg when he fell and then had others fall on him.

"Right now we're asking for more information from some folks," OVC commissioner Dan Beebe said Monday. "I expect an official statement to be made in about a week or so.

Added Beebe, "It puts a blemish on an outstanding tournament. It's something that everybody regrets I'm sure."
