The Southeast Otahkians softball team dropped a doubleheader to Cal-State Sacramento Tuesday in its final preparation for the Capital Classic, which opens on Thursday.

The Othakians dropped the opener 1-0 and the nightcap 6-1.

Southeast (3-5) mustered five hits in each game.

In the opener, the game's only run was unearned and was scored by Sacramento in the bottom of the fifth inning. Sacramento parlayed a hit and two errors into the game-winning run.

Debbie Schmelz went the distance for Southeast and suffered the loss. She struck out five, walked one and allowed five hits.

Southeast saw the game end with runners at second and third in the seventh inning.

Southeast's five hits belonged to Ricki DeArmon, Tami Hebert, Jenny Oermann, Renee Enos and Kelsey White.

In the nightcap, Sacramento broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the fourth inning and added three more in the fifth and one in the sixth.

The Otahkians saw Sacramento grab a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning but tied the game with its lone run in the top of the fourth.

Christine Englehardt pitched five innings and suffered the loss for Southeast. She allowed six of Sacramento's seven hits, walked one and struck out one.

Angie Godfrey worked the final inning, allowing one hit.

Amy Kisaka had two of Southeast's five hits and knocked in the lone run.
