BRIEFLY: MAPES WINS MEDALIST HONOR

Beth Mapes shot a 77 to win medalist honors at the Women Golf Association competition last week at Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Play of the day was `pink ball and net best ball.' The threesome of Marlena Jones, Laurie Laverentz and Gwen Lampitt won both events with a pink ball score of 63 and a best ball of 50.

Hostesses were Dorris Young and Marge Thompson.

The twilight winners were Deanna Estes, Judi Brey, Beverly Prater and Joyce Kuntze with a 32. The team of Ann Dombrowski, Alice Temm, Joan Morgan and Karen Grebing took second with a 34.
